Your 2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park-Musanze Province in northwestern Rwanda where a section of 1004 mountain gorillas that today still remain on earth.

For primate lovers, this is an ultimate primate adventure that draws you very close to a family of these dramatic creatures while they are in the wild. It is a special package set for visitors with limited time and amazingly.

It also allows you to embark on Gisozi/Kigali city tour with the opportunity to visit the nearby Rwanda genocide sites, museums as well as cultural exploration at Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village.

The Volcanoes National Park is set in northwestern Rwanda, approximately 2 to 3 hours from Kigali. En-route to this pristine protected area; you will be amazed by the breathtaking sceneries of the rolling hills and the scenic Virunga Volcanoes that make Rwanda a true land of a thousand hills.

Volcanoes National Park covers an area of 160sq.kms and comprises of 10 habituated groups and only one family will be assigned to you to trek in a group of 8 visitors. Your 2 days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari will commence and end in Kigali.

Day 1: Kigali tour and drive to Volcanoes National Park

Get up and enjoy your breakfast at the hotel of your choice/area of residence in Kigali or upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet the company representative.

He will take you through what your 2 days Rwanda gorilla trekking tour is all about and later, you start your day with Kigali city tour. Kigali capital city is not only a vibrant commercial city center but it is also rated among a few cleanest and safest cities in Africa.

On Kigali city tour, you will pay a visit to Kigali genocide memorial site which will give you insight into what happened in the 1994 Rwanda genocide. Other places to visit include the art and craft markets and many others.

After Kigali city tour, you will have lunch in your preferred hotel in Kigali and later, you embark on a 2-3 hours’ journey to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze Province.

You will arrive at Volcanoes National Park earlier to check-in at your preferred lodge and in the evening, you will visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a cultural tour. At Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, get a reward of authentic African experience from cultural and traditional dances, music performance and opportunity to interact with the local residents.

Day 2: Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes and Return to Kigali City

You are expected to get up as early as possible to prepare so that by 6:30 am you start your day with a tasty cup of Rwanda tea or coffee at your respective safari lodge.

And depending on the location of your lodge, you will be picked up and by 7:30 am, you are at Kinigi which is Volcanoes National Park headquarter where you together with other visitors will be briefed on the set gorilla trekking guidelines.

Because this is a strenuous adventure, you are advised to come with some packed energy-giving snacks, plenty of drinking water (bottled) and walking stick.
Volcanoes National Park consists of 10 habituated groups (Kwitonda, Sabyinyo, Susa A, Karisimbi, 13 Group, Ugenda, Amahoro, Hirwa, Bwenge, and Umubano) but only one will be allocated to you to trek in a group of 8 visitors.

Experienced and an armed park ranger guide will take you through your thrilling primate adventure and you will be joined by trackers, porters in case you hire one to help you carry your heavy luggage.
At 8:00 am, you will hit the jungles of Volcanoes National Park to look out for the gorilla family assigned to you.

This adventure usually covers about 2 to 6 hours however, this depends on your speed of hiking, nature of the habitat and where these apes are located in the course of the day.

What is amazing is that not only will you be filled by magical encounters at mountain gorillas but you will also have a chance to spot out several primates and bird species.

Once you bump into a gorilla family, it is a dream come true! You have only one solid hour to have a magical encounter with these remarkable creatures and also for you to take pictures, learn their behaviors and body gestures among other exciting things.

After the one hour of magical encounter, you will get back to the lodge to relax a bit before embarking on the return journey to Kigali that will mark the end of your 2 days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari.
